Virtual Recreation of Bent's Old Fort
Students in Colorado are working with the video game Minecraft, in order to create a virtual replica of Bent's Old Fort. This virtual replica will be accessed for free on the Minecraft game by students and gamers all over the world.
Bent's Old Fort was built in the 1800's and was also replicated in the physical world and turned into a popular restaurant. The restaurant looks like the original fort, and they also started incorporated authentic dishes from the 1800's into the menu. Some funky menu items include rattle snake, rabbit, and bison.
The fact the Minecraft is so popular among young children makes it exciting for Immersive Education teachers because they now have a way to incorporate history and engineers into the learning process.

La Junta Student Project
High school and college students studying in La Junta, Colorado are working with the game Minecraft in order to create a virtual form of Bent's Old Fort. These students are part of the Immersive Education club in this area, and are trying out virtual education to make the learning a little bit more interactive. Although right now they are only using a simple video game system, they hope to eventually move up towards more engineering-based programs in the future.
The club is in it's early stages now with 20 members, but instructor Meagan Hotchkiss-Trejo predicts that with this many students the project will be completed in about two years. Students in the club now say that they were surprised to learn that they would be using video games in an educational club. Once the video game phase is over, the students will move onto Autocad and Autocad 3D. In two years when the project is completed, people from all around the world will be able to see and experience Bent's Old Fort without having to travel or leave their home.

Class 3: Exploring the Virtual World Framework (VWF)
This is the first VWF demo I went into and I was having a bit of trouble getting my avatar to move. This demo is called Middle-Eastern Village. It kept wanting me to edit, and it would not let me move. The graphics for this one on my computer were very blurry and the movement was not smooth that couple of times I got the woman to take a step. The next demo I went into was the Command Center demo. This was easy to move around in and the visuals were very clear. I enjoyed this one the most. The last demo I went into was the Grasslands demo. This one had a lot of great movement because the grass was constantly swaying in the wind. I was able to move around in this demo the easiest and I thought it was cool to be able to go up and down the hills and then turn around and see what was behind you.
Overall I think I like Meshmoon better, only because I have a couple more options as far as different worlds go. I also find Meshmoon easier to navigate and easier to move the avatar around. Although the Command Office has had the best visuals so far, I still think I am going to have to go with Meshmoon. I think they both have their pros and cons.
MIDTERM 4
This is midterm 4 where we had to take a screen shot of our avatar so we could see its face.I did this by having my avatar sit down on a bench. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.
